The passage of Proposition DD in November 2019 set the stage for legal sports betting in Colorado on May 1. With that in mind, Z Casino obtained its sports betting license from the Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission in April of opening both retail and online sportsbooks.

Maverick Gaming purchased CC Gaming, the former owner of Z Casino, in December 2019. At that time, Maverick majority owner Eric Persson said, “This purchase gives Maverick Gaming sports betting in two states, and we look forward to adding more jurisdictions in the coming months.” The company already operated sportsbooks in Nevada.

As further proof, Maverick’s commitment to sports betting, Persson told The Seattle Times the company plans to spend $20 million-$30 million to fight a bill in the state of Washington that allows sports betting at tribal casinos only.
